Cadel Evan’s Bike On Exhibit

Cadel Evans bikes can now be seen at the National Museum in the cycling exhibition section along with stump buckets of Paralympians.


The love of cycling is a big part of the life of many Australians and that is what is evident from the exhibits that are put up in the National Museum of Australia that is situated in Canberra. It is a Freewheeler exhibition that takes a look at cycling and its history as well as how it has shaped the life of the people. It showcases how cycling was popular in the country as old as in 1880. The exhibition also showcases the different bike technologies, though they are present to show how the sport has evolved in the country.

Cadel is a famed Australian cyclist, his bikes being put up in this exhibition makes sense. Being a professional cyclist of the fame of this country, he had won the Tour de France competition in 2011. He began his career as a mountain biker in which he became a champion. He also went on to win the World Cup in the years 1998 as well as 1999. He also won the seventh position in the 2000 summer Olympics that was held in Sydney. Continue reading →

MATIN ABANDONS RECORD-SETTING ATTEMPT

Guy Matin has put an end to his intended record setting attempt due to an injury.


The athlete who had been on an adventure to set a new record of cycling the entire length of Britain’s coastline has suffered an Achilles tendon injury, forcing him to abandon his quest.

Martin has had high hope of beating the current record, which Nick Sanders had set in 1984 by attempting to ride the 4,802-mile coastal route in 20 days, a feat that took Sanders 22 days to complete. Unfortunate he pulled his Achilles tendon earlier on in his attempt and had to cancel.

The multitalented athlete who is a motorcycle racer as well as a TV presenter had managed to make a good start on Sunday, December 5 and he had covered the 800 miles distance from Grimsby to John O’Groats in just four days.

Kiwis to host Track Cycling UCI World Cup

New Zealand would be reportedly hosting upcoming Track Cycling UCI World Cup. The grandest stage event is scheduled to be hosted in the month of December at Cambridge based Avantidrome.

Andrew Matheson, the CEO of Cycling NZ, remarked that it would mark an amazing opportunity for Kiwi cycling fans to witness the NZ riders taking on best riders from all across the world.

“From a good competitive perspective, it presents a rare chance for the riders here to contend for the Worlds trophy in their homeland amidst great cheer & support from the home-crowd. It will also relieve them from the stress of overseas travel”, stated Mathewson.

Vincenzo Nibali Unsure Of Becoming Overall Winner In This Year’s Tour of Oman

Vincenzo Nibali, the Italian Professional cyclist who rides for the Astana Professional cycling team will take part in this year’s Tour of Oman. The Italian professional cyclist expressed his eagerness to start this season but is quite doubtful about whether his physical condition is good enough for him to become winner of a title.

In a press conference held before the start of Tour of Oman Nibali said that he wants to start the season in a good way. He expressed his intention to not get tensed before Milan-San Remo or Tirreno Adriatico, his highlights for this season. Nibali considers that participating in the Tour of Oman is the best way to start a season for him. He said that the weather of this race is better than that of any race taking place in Europe.

Nibali considers Tour of Oman as a race for the sprinters. He said that Tour of Oman is his 2015 season’s second race and he further added that the race having two stages set in the mountains is going to be a tough one for him. Continue reading →

Chris Froome To Participate In The Next Year’s Tour de France

Chris Froome has said that winning Tour de France is one of his goals for the next season. After the route of the 2015 edition of Tour de France was unveiled in Paris in October, Froome said that he wasn’t happy as there were not many time trials in the route.

He said that he will take part in the next year’s Vuelta a Espana and Giro d’Italia. After discussing his next year’s racing schedule with the management of team Sky, Froome has decided to take part in the next year’s Tour de France.

The next year’s Tour wouldn’t be an easy one for Froome as he’ll have to compete against Vincenzo Nibali, the winner of this year’s Tour de France, Alberto Contador of the Tinkoff-Saxo team and Nairo Quintana of team Movistar. Froome couldn’t ride in this year’s Tour de France for crashing but he got the second place in the Vuelta a Espana. Alberto Contador became the winner of this year’s Vuelta a Espana.
